Have Fun, Be Safe
Have Fun, Be Safe is a Personal Safety Campaign, aimed at all demographics, that emphasizes the importance of protecting and looking out for yourself, as well as to share simple tips on how to do so. This project centers around the lessons I have been taught since childhood by my mom and aunts, that everyone should be practicing personal and preventative safety habits. My animations explore safety tips and statistics covering the topics of drink spiking, ride-sharing platforms, and street safety. I have created short format animations, as well as short looping gif animations to accent the simplicity of safety. Alongside the digital content, I aimed to take the campaign off of the screen a little bit and add elements of physicality by creating drink coasters and pin buttons as supplemental materials.
As a graphic and motion graphic designer, I use Adobe Illustrator, After Effects, and Photoshop as a means to merge learning with animation. Timing, fluidity and detail are all very prominent aspects of my work. I value my planning process to ensure clarity and conciseness, as I consistently focus on factual and statistically based subject matter.
This project combines animation, typography, color theory, and dynamic compositions to communicate the simplicity of personal safety in visually driven ways. Using a wide range of tips and statistics, I am creating posters, billboards, Instagram posts, drink coasters and pin buttons that use consistent branding to create a cohesive and recognizable campaign. My goal is to make the content applicable and accessible on various platforms and displays in order to reach and inform mass audiences to start a discussion about this topic. This campaign encourages personal safety through gradual implementation of tips and suggestions that are accompanied by statistics to raise awareness of the ease and importance of protecting oneself.
