Fibromyalgic’s Guide to the Universe
As a 22-year-old currently suffering from fibromyalgia, I had endless energy during the first 17 years of life! Growing up an athlete, I loved to push my body to its limits. Upon developing various ailments, I now had to focus on my physical body for a completely different reason. Countless doctor’s visits forced me to change my perspective on physical health and started my fascination for anatomy. Beginning with studying human then animal anatomy, I found a new passion and ways to channel my energy.
I merge my love for familiar Earthly anatomy with my fascination for speculative alien biology. Fibromyalgic’s Guide to the Universe combines the limits of organic and inorganic anatomy to create my interpretation of an inconceivable, Lovecraftian alien. This ambitious project forced me to encounter then navigate through several setbacks, and from these struggles my past physical energy would manifest as mental energy. Fibromyalgic’s Guide to the Universe represents what I learned: There has been and will be more scary problems to deal with. It is easy to get discouraged but don’t quit, because nothing is more fun than being a nuisance right back towards a problem.
